    internet connection sharing

    Locked

    by bethcha ·

i’m using Switch for my networking here for two computers with Windows98se.I already have two lancards, one for share and one for home. I did’nt assign any IP address but instead use the automatically detect IP address then use DHCP for Wins Resolution, no gateway assign and disable the DNS. I have also tried assigning IP addresses and so on but to no avail can’t share the internet.
Now that i’m using automatic IP addressing what will i do next to the client computer?do i have to put the gateway with the client computer?please tell me if u can step-by-step because i’m not an network expert but willing to learn..hoping for your reply..thanks in anticipation..

      Use a Router

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) can be clunky and there are many internet applications and services that won’t work when you are using ICS.

I highly recommend that you just get a router. The router can automatically share your internet connection with all of your systems and it will also hide your computers from others on the internet.

Are you using dial-up or high speed internet? Well I have the router for you either way in the link below. The router linked below can share a printer for everyone on the network, share your dial-up modem and/or share your highspeed cable/dsl connection.

If you want to use a modem & printer:

If you want to connect just to high speed:

If you must use ICS… When you setup ICS it promts you to create a floppy disk for the client computers. Make sure you run the setup program from the floppy on the client computers.
