Internet connection with Cisco 1812 router

by matt.niemeyer . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

Hello, I have a new Cisco 1812 router and a cable modem internet connection. I am new to Cisco routers and not familiar with console commands, I have configured the ‘FastEthernet1’ port for my connection using SDM, all tests pass except for when I come to ping the destination host. The message says this might be due to a mismatch in encapsulation at the remote end (not sure what this means?). When connecting the cable modem directly to my laptop and configuring the static IP address, GW, DSN etc, I have no problem, but can’t seem to get the router to connect.

Any help appreciated!
