    Internet data usage

I am looking for advice on why we are going over our data limits on home internet. Shows we are downloading between 20-50gb every day. We only use smartphones a couple streaming services (sling and HBO) don’t have a computer used regularly and an older gaming system occasionally. Seems something major is happening and we just can not figure it out. Any advice would be helpful and much appreciated thanks

Approximately how much data in 1 month is being used? How much data allowance do you have from your provider per month? Are you watching videos/movies? Who is your provider? What type of internet connection are you using, through your phone or from a stand-alone wireless internet device? Do you know if anyone else connecting to your internet device?

Not enough information to offer an opinion/advice.

Thank you birdmantg. We have 1500 gb allowance for our internet 25 through AT&T home internet from a single router. We do not do online gaming or download videos. Shows we are using anywhere from 20-50 gb per day which is obviously an obnoxious amount

It seems time to experiment. Go totally off-line yourself for 1 full day: no streaming at all, no gaming at all, no Whatsapp, no internet, nothing. Only use the phone to talk and SMS, like you did in 2003.
Leave your phones on, so any (hidden) background activity can go on. Don’t tell your neighbors in case they’re the ones that use your WiFi.

Next day, check the data usage. Tell the results.

Streaming takes a lot of GB (gigabytes.)

For example HD seems to clock in at 3 to 4 GB a hour. Go to 4K and it’s 7 to 10GB a hour.

      20 to 50GB won’t go far.
