try disabling windows messenger service or try Ad-Aware from run it in all the profiles on the pc. but first go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add/remove Software and remove all progrms that look funny to you like SEP, eBates, MyWaySearch. especially the search ones. then reboot and run ad-aware until it quits. consider turning off system restore while you do this.

I am not sure what pop up blocker you are using but if it is IE's from SP2, try seeing what is going on in settings. Also try the Google anti popup at their site.

There are a large number of pop-ups that even the best pop-up blockers allow.

The new pop-up blocker in XP SP2 is farther open than many others, and will allow a number of pop-ups through.

Keep in mind that many web-sites (TR included) us pop-up windows for a number of valid operations.

So far, the "best" pop-up blocker I have used is the one built into the Mozilla and Firefox web browsers.

And yes, if it is an add window that pops up, it just might be coming in through Windows Messenger.
