Locked

Internet Explorer

By katn ·
I am looking to lock users off the internet, but at the same time need them to access the intranet.
Our proxy border is down for awhile, which allows access to the internet which is fine for most our users. I have policies in place but don't see anything to limit access to IE. Is there a way just to allow access to the intranet?

Its expensive but it will give you control over internet access its called WEB SENSE and works with your firewall (check web sense site for supported firewalls) and is very customizeable for internet access control. The other way would be to have all 2000 servers and clients then use the PDC's DNS server for DNS, but don't have forwarders for outside resolution. To access the internet then the clients would need to have ISP DNS server addresses for secondary DNS servers in the TCP properties.

It depends rather a lot on your network set-up... but you could just remove the default gateway.

Removing default gateway stops people from accessing the intranet too

a Fire wall like zonealarm will allow you to specify net access by application

Try changing your default gateway to your internal web server. This should allow them to see the intranet and stop the external.
