Internet Explorer 6.0 Crash within Windo

By f-3266854 ·
How does one resolve this problem when IE 6.0 crashes when you try to type a www address in the address bar? It has something to do with the version of shell32.dll and version of IE. Also how does one change the menu when windows boot up in Windows 2000 (Windows 2000 Professional /Windows 2000 Server)? Can I change one in the registry?

I'd start by removing IE6 from your system in the add/remove programs applet, and then reinstalling the software. If you don't have the install software, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/ie6/default.asp to download it, or try netscape.
As far as the boot menu, you can edit your c:\boot.ini and change the boot-time description of the operating system from there. Just change the text between the inverted commas.

You must have installed IE 6.0 meant for Win9x and not the actually avialable IE 6.0 for WIN 2K, so uninstall this version and re install it by downloading from the site mentioned in above reply..
