Yesterday I encountered a problem with one of my client’s computers with regard to internet access.
What happens is that when I boot the pc I can access the internet with Internet Explorer no problem at all, however after about 8 or 9 minutes IE can no longer connect to any web pages, although the internet connection is still active and I can still send and receive email.
I have tried an in place reinstall of Win XP with SP2, I also upgraded IE6 to IE7 but the problem persists. It seems to be always about the same length of time before the internet connection is lost only to IE (actually I did try to access web pages via MS Outlook but could not)
This is something I have not seen before and I wonder if it could be a virus? any thoughts welcome.
BTW I forgot to mention that I have disabled all non essential services and start up programmes but no joy.
