Internet Explorer connection problems on HP Laptop

By JBMznet ·
I have an HP Laptop with Vista 64-bit. The system has Wireless connection active and it indicates that it is connected to my Bell router. Vista update is working but my I.E. will not connect to any web sites. I have Norton Antivirus enabled with Internet security (can this be the problem?).. Help!

Can you ping websites ok to prove its an IE problem?

Norton could be a problem if you set it to deny

all traffic which, btw, there is a setting for. If that's enabled, disable it. Then try.

To ensure that you are actually connected to the internet, skip the wireless, try the wired to the 4 port switch and see if you can get on that way. If not, log on to the bell router and see if it's connected. If so, get your ISP DNS servers and load those in manually. Then try to get to the internet.
