Internet Explorer Printing Missing Lines

By taadirector ·
I have two identical setups (Win98SE, I'net Explorer 5.1); the only difference is that one's printer is an HPLJ1100; the other is an HPLJ 5L. With the latter, no problems. With the former, though, when printing multiple-page websites (e.g., articlesfrom the NYTimes or WashPost), the top line on a succeeding page is truncated (i.e., only the bottom part of the line appears), or the line is missing completely. This happens on about a quarter of the pages. Changing margins, typesize, etc. has no effect. I've seen this problem raised in other fora; is someone on the TechRepublic network smarter?
Many thanx, Don Cofman

It sounds like the printer might not have web dithering enabled or set properly. Also, under ADVANCED in IE the setting for SMART IMAGE DITHERING might not be checked.

The answer is incomplete: There is no indication of how to enable web dithering or what the proper setting for it is. Moreover, "smart image dithering" IS checked.

In short, the answer "didn't help me."
