Internet Explorer Problem

By milesrrs ·
in the last week or so everytime i try to download a file from the net, and sometimes when i access websites, i get a message 'cannot open the site......connection with the server was reset'
this is after i have started downloading.
I am running w2k server, with IE5.00.2920.0000
and a 56k dial up connection.
Does anyone have any idea why i keep getting this message???

Internet Explorer Problem

This happens to me also. He is my setup. Win98se with 56k modem and proxy software. My w2k advanced server connects through proxy. It only happens once in a while and it has always been on large downloads. I have always believed that it has been the modem crapping out because I live 6 blocks from the phone company and get download speeds between 8 and 9 k per sec, which is really high for a modem. I just moved there 3 moths ago and thats when it started happening. I usually have to reboot the 98 machine.

If you find its something else let me know. My proxy is proxy+ by the way.

That was also my thought, about the modem. But this only happens on my w2k server, if i use my win98se machine, using ICS through the w2k machine, the download works perfectly, so it must either be the IE on w2k or ?????

Have you guys installed WIN2K SP1? and I believe there is a SP for your IE version.

Good luck!
