    Internet explorer question

I had two network clients today (2003 domain, dhcp) not be able to access web via IE 7 browser.

live messenger was connected and working, could ping outside anywhere even tested other browsers safari..etc on the pc’s and they went out..so that led me back to IE.

basically I updated the browser to IE8 and users can get on now (mind you this is only 2 out of 12 clients in office)

I’m trying to narrow down possible reasons why (myspace bug or something from a non business site or download that may have triggered this high jacking it seems)

It just makes no sense to me why only their default browsers would fail(other than an obvious high jacking)…..the last user that this happened to I basially had to do the same thing on her profile…she was surfing basically after interrogation process.

These others are in denial. I was able to access web over IE in my admin account just fine on both systems.

I’m just trying to build a case here(already hearing the “lost hours because IT was fixing complaint)…haven’t hit up their history yet or checked logs until later.

sounds like a high jacking to me though.

before and the fix is relativly simple.

Press the Winkey + r type inetcpl.cpl and then press ENTER. (The WinKey is also known as the “Windows key”, “Windows logo key” or “Start key” on your keyboard)

Click on the Connections Tab. Click Lan settings and untick the box to the left of Automatically detect settings. Click OK and close out of Internet Explorer and try connecting again. If it connects you can then change the settings back to original.

You could also try running Spybot and MalwareBytes. If you find anything with MBAM turn off System Restore and run MBAM again in Safe Mode.

        workaround.

I’ll be running the malware after “they are caught up with work”..needless to say neither of them has done a lick but complain about our services to anyone who will listen to them for the past few hours even though we had a solution in less than 30 minutes.

        thanks for feedback
