Internet Explorer Questions

By mgonzales ·
We have a windows 2000 professional machine, running IE 5.5. Some users cannot accesss web pages unless they are in the local admin group. Has anyone seen this issue and what is the fix.

We have audited the registry and we currently use roamingprofiles.

Thanks

I think you need to run Internet Setup Wizard first (as administrator).

So, log on as administrator and run the wizard. As administrator, your setting will be copied to all other users using the machine (whether you chose to use LAN or Dial-Up Networking).

I didn't encounter any problem though, except whenever the administrator haven't run the wizard, as user you will get the message stating that you (as user) don't have enough priviliges.

Hope it helps.

This was done under administrator first. Due to profiles, the wizard runs for each person that logs into the workstation.

Answer One was sort of right. You will have to give the user local admin rights temporaly. Then run the Internet wizard and setup the internet config for that user. After you have set it up remove that user from the local admin group and reboot. Your user should be able to surf the web after that. Unfortunately IE only allows you to config with admin rights. But once configed it will run with normal user rights.

Good luck

When the user is in local admin some of the links from the intranet site works. When the user is removed from the local admin they stop working
