Internet Explorer Search Issue

By JParadeis ·
My internet explorer default search page has been changed from the MSN.com search to something called Luckysearch.net, any ideas as to how to change this setting back? I went through all of the IE properties settings. It's running IE 6.0.2600. Thanks

No problem. When in IE6 just click TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS and you wil see the option to set a default home page. Just type in the URL of the page you want.

This is just a spyware plugin, to clear your system of the registry files and spyware that is installed automatically as you search the net download ADAWARE for free at:

http://www.lavasoft.nu

Very handy tool to run regularly if you use the Internet a lot.

I have already done that. It has been changing my default homepage to luckysearch as well. Thanks though.

I went to Regedit hkey_local_machine/software/microsoft/internet explorer/search. and changed both values there to http://search.msn.com. then I went back to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\internet explorer and cahnged the search key value there to http://search.msn.com thanks.

Download and run an antispyware program like Spybot. It sounds like you have some of that nasty stuff installed in your computer.

GOT IT !

You are a victim of the of the Cool-Web Search hijack. This hijack comes in many forms and 'luckysearch' seems to be the latest. There is another forum on the subject at this site under the the name of 'Global Finder Hijack'.
The easy way to remove it is to run CWSchredder. I can assure you it will work.
Visit this site and download CWS free.
www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html
While you are there, read all about the various forms this nasty comes in.
