Internet Explorer: This page cannot be d

By lkalyanee ·
I have internet explorer 6.0 in my PC and recently getting a message :Internet explorer encountered a problem and will be shutdown.
So, I decided to remove it but there was no uninstall option since it was a downloadable version. I remove it from the register and reinstall internet explorer 5.0.
Now i am getting another problem:This page cannot be displayed or cannot find DNS server.
My dial up connection is ok. Whatever site I am entering the same message is displayed.
Could you please help me to find a solution
My email address:lkalyanee@yahoo.com

Thanks

You should try going to a DOS prompt and pinging the hostnames in question. If you get good responses then it is definately something with IE, if not it may be a network related problem, such as DNS being disabled or incorrect configuration elsewhere. Let me know how it goes.

From your description, it may be possible that your removal is not destructive.

IE 6.0 is connected to the system.
1) Re-install your connection software from your ISP (usually comes as a disk or CD).
If it is OK, then not needed to use step 2.

2) start-->run-->sfc --> repair the system files. (get your windows CD ready.)

3) RE-install the IE 6.0 on your system.
Next time, when you face the problem, your can choose the repair option in the remove/add software (then choose IE): it has a repair option.

Try to bring up Microsoft Access befor you try the 'dial-up'; cancel the window in the start-up face and then go to veiwand click, then to toolbar and click, then go to web and click & push the 'enter' on the adding machine face. Next type in the address you want to go to and again use the enter on the adding machine face.

If this does not work then try to physically phone the server with the handset to your ear you should hear a squel for a successful hookup. Try this: Once I.E is open Goto the "tools" pull-down, select "Internet Options", Select the "Programs" Tab, and click on the "reset Web settings" tab near the bottom.
