I have a Gateway PC running W98 and IE5.0 that will not open IE page fully, just get the DSN error page. The modem will dial out and connects fine. Im able to PING a bunch or IP address’s outside, but when IE opens I get the message “The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.”
I have tried (what I feel is)everything except reformat the PC. I tried all the resolutions in Microsofts artical #Q175722. I have loaded IE5.5 and 6.o, I have deleted all IE relations on the PC and the modem and even the dial-up networking files (even renamed all the old files and recopied them back in off the W98 setup disk) reinstalled everything and still nothing.
I have tried reinstalling W98 but still recieve the same DNS error page.
Is there some Registry setting somewhere I can look at or has it come down to reformatting. I hate to do this as the PC has alot of games loaded (allof which worked fine for months before this happened).
Nothing has been loaded recently, the most recent was a new CD drive about 2 months ago, this problem started about 2 weeks ago.
HELP! Any ideas?
