Client has new PC. Got infected with Trojan Horse virus. Scanned and cleaned with AVG. However, virus has affected IE home page - keeps changing it after reboot. (Have hit APPLY when resetting to correct homepage website). Homepage keeps telling him he is infected with spyware. How do I remove the offending homepage entry?

To solve these issues try one of these two programs. One is called (hijack this) and the other is (Spybot Search & Destroy) Both programs are free. These work better than any of the virus programs out there. I like mcafee virus because it also detects adware or unwanted programs, but spybot goes deeper into the registry.
HijackThis will identify the culprit and will allow you to delete the reg entry. If you want more help post the HijackThis log and we can talk you through what entries to delete.
restart ur system in safe mode. Start->Run-> type msconfig, remove unncecessay files. mostly trojan horses come with file name service.exe or sender.exe. remove it. again restart in safe mode. start->Run-> type regedit. H_Key_Local_Machine->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Run delete unnecessary files, then choose Run-, delete all files, then runServices, runServices-, delete unncecessay files. close the registry. delete the file sender.exe or service.exe find the path of the file and delete it in dos mode. choose ur favourite home page in IE in safe mode. restart the system.
Hijack This is useful in that it shows what is currently loading on startup. You must know what is good and what is bad. Once you check it and fix it is gone. So be sure.
