internet log

By freetech ·
i need recommendations on how to log internet surfing on a windows 2000 server non-domain network with a 3-com lan modem as the internet access point. the network is already set up and we are trying to add the ability to log all internet access as far as sites visited, etc. we would like to do this as easily and inexpensively as possible.
thanks.

Most likely the easiest and most common method would be setting up a proxy server to handle the web traffic. The proxy could then log sites and you can set it up with some content filtering.

Depending on what sort of budget you are dealing with, you can use anything from freely downloadable proxy software (probably not the best choice), to implementing something like a BlueCoat proxy "appliance". (Take a look at bluecoat.com).

Hope this helps.
