INTERNET SHARING

By npanchal7 ·
I GOT ONE JOB TO SHARE INTERNET. IT IS ON 9 FLOOR TOWER. THE INTERNET CONNECTION IS SITUATED IN GROUND FLOOR AND EACH FLOOR IS GEETING ONE CABLE FROM GROUND FLOOR. THE EACH FLOOR HAVING 4 P.C. BUT ON THE EACH FLOOR THERE IS NO SWITCHING HUB OR NORMAL HUB AND INTERNET CONNECTION IS BEING PROVIDED BY USING SOCKETS JUST CONNECTED PARALLEL LIKE WE ARE USEING ELECTRICAL CONNECTION SHARING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THAT DEVICE AND THE TOTAL LENGHT FORM THE GROUND TO SOCKET IS ABOUT 80 MT. SO WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GIVE CONNECTION SHARING. IS IT POSSIBLE TO SHARE INTERNET LIKE ABOVE MENTIONED OR I HAVE TO PUT ONE SWITHING HUB OVER HERE?

Unless you are going to use thin-net (coax) you will need:
switch / router on the ground floor;

separate wires to each floor;

hub / switch on each floor.

This is taking for granted the internet connection is a high speed dsl or cable.

Ground Floor
1- Linksys BESFR11 Gateway/Router/DHCP Server
* 10/100 Switch 9+ ports
* APC Surge protector or Battery Backup
* Ethernet cable run to each floor.

Each Floor
1- 10/100 Switch. Port count will depend on
number of rooms that need access. Use
stackable switches if necessary.
* ethernet cable run to each room.

Good Luck Lee
