    Intranet accessed problem

    by derekleng ·

My workstation is running on Win98SE and this PC is facing the failure on accessing on our
Intranet website, hosted on a Win2000 server which is also a DHCP and a DNS server.
My workstation is using a dynamic address assigned from a DHCP server.I have
    no problem on accessing
the intranet on other workstation.Even worst is I can ping the IP address and host name of my
Win2k intranet webserver but still I can’t get the website despite putting in a correct address
    of my webserver.
    Pls advise.

I can only think of the browser proxy setting that might be the cause. Have you bypass proxy for local addresses?

Could be one of several things going astray.
I need more info to work it out.

Have you double checked your IP addresses with winipcfg on 98, and I think the same thing for win 2000 is IP configuration ?
      e.g. start\run\type in winipcfg on win 98

Can the troubled workstation ping itself ?

Is file and printer shareing working on the workstation O.K. ?

Though if you can ping to your server that tends to suggest that the workstsation doesn’t have the problem ….

software settings on the server might need to be adjusted .. can you provide me some info on that ?

      Cheers ! Ben
