How do I send a message to another computer on the same intranet?

Using Windows 2000? Open a command prompt and type:

net send %computername% %message%

The cmd line posted didn't work for me (we have both win2000 & win98 on intranet)... We use "winpopup.exe" successfully between 98 computers back & forth -- but the 2000's can't send, only receive msgs. I have have been trying to find a solution to this myself.
