intranet web page

By dsitton ·
I've designed a small intranet page for our company using IIS and FP 2000. I was wondering is there a way for the employees to type in the name of the company instead of the name of the webserver to get to the intranet webpage, without setting up aDNS server.

intranet web page

Modify the HOSTS file on the client workstations, to have the IP address and the FQDN that you want your users to browse to, to hit your web server.

No DNS server necessary, but if your IP address for the web server changes, you have to change all of those HOSTS files.

hope this helps
