intranet website user access problem

By mark.huston ·
I am converting an intranet website to Windows Server 2003 running IIS 6.0. I am using a Microsoft Access database back end. When the user connects to the website a PHP 5.2.5 script access the users login name and looks it up in the database to determine the links the user will see on the left side of the page. I am having problems getting someone who is not a specific member of the NTFS user access list to connect to the database. If I grant "Everyone" read access to the share, they can connect, but the database is not being updated with data. I DO NOT want to grant direct write access to the database. How can I get this to work??? HELP!!!!

That's going to be a problem.

If the users do not have the ability to write then the DB will never be updated. You really don't have a choice there. The only thing you could do would be to limit the access and not use the everyone group. Either use an existing group or create a new on and give them write security.

The only other way I can think of is to do it programatically. I'm no programmer but perhaps another can give you guidance in that direction if that's teh way you really need to go.

Hope you get it working.
