My manager continually shoots down ideas because he “does not want to introduce a new skillset” into the department or position. For example, I have recommended using analysis services for some of our complex reporting requests and the answer I got was “we don’t want to introduce a new skillset.” I personally feel that this will slowly poison and destroy the department. In the IT field we should be striving to always expand our skillsets, not limit them. What are others thoughts on this?
