Invalid boot ini file

By Dennis T ·
I recently copied a drive to a brand new drive, then started to get this trouble upon start-up. It just hangs there till i shut it down & wait a few minutes to restart it . I did re-formatted that old drive and used it as storage. My question is, how can I fix this problem. I cannot access my msconfig command to even look at it .

Start the computer from the Windows XP CD, start the Recovery Console, and then use the Bootcfg.exe tool to rebuild the Boot.ini file.

When you said you copied a drive, I assume you used a third party image program, Norton Ghost, for example?

If that was the case, the solution is to boot the computer with a Windows 98 Startup disk and run

Fdisk /mbr

Actually I used maxtor4 utilities. I did not get a chance to use your answer, but I did add it to my library. Thanks for your time.
