A corrupt dll file that is common in IE5.5,go to the add/remove programs in the control panel, select IE5,then click on the add/remove button and a pane will appear, select to repair the IE5 installation,if this does not work you might have to restoreto previous version and then reinstall IE5.

Could be that you have problem with ram. I have had trouble with page faults on two computers, in both case I run test on ram, showed problems with memory blocks. Replaced ram sticks and problem solved. Goto MS website and do a seach on Page Fault errors.

Go to www.microsoft.com and click on the Search feature. Type in the error message (Ex: filescan performed an invalid page fault in explorer). In the box below click either: All Words, or Any Words. Then click on search. Microsoft's knowledge base will list several pages of topics related to your error message. Search out the one that is related to your problem. I have found Microsoft's knowledge base to be very helpful in circumstances such as these.

Hope this helps.

I have come across a few problems with people using v5.5.
First try going to add, remove programs > clicking on IE5.5 and choosing add, remove. When prompted from the list choose 'Fix Internet Explorer'. If this does not work, do the same but this time choose 'return to original setup'. This will return you to your original version where you can run some diagnostics on your system. Finally try reinstalling the product, making sure that no other apps are running in the background, apart from Explorer and systray.

Hope this helps you - Alex
