Iomega Zip 250 mb USB

by purgatory . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I’ve just purchased a USB ZIP 250 MB external drive to copy files from a HP Omnibook running W98 first edition, to a desktop. Trouble is, after the first discrete copy, the drive corrupts the directory of its media and the laptop freezes. The drive also freezes and will not eject.

I’ve tried the drive on a desktop using Windows XP and these bugs are absent.

Being only a few days old, the dealer exchanged it, but on the second time round has said to go jump and talk to iomega.

Now it seems to me, a drive which corrupts its own directory is far from meeting its most basic requirements. In this casae do you blame the HP USB port or the Iomega people who claim their drives will work with W98. This was a big problem with 8″ floppy drives (pon their own controllers) but I thought, but I figured we were well past this stage.

I think this zip is zapped, be it physical or logical and I am persisting to get my money back. I’me sick and tired of enriching some hardware or software manufacturer and then debugging their gear for them. What do you think my chances are?
