    IP Address Conflict

    I am using NtServer4.0 For my server end and static IP Scheme for my Clients which are win95 & win98.i am getting the ip conflict pop-up screen ones in a two/three day interval only on that specific machine.no body else knows how to change the ip ofthere own machine also while the error is there you say ok & it goes away & you can do your normal work from brousing the network resources to using the mailing systems everything works fine.

    I have already reinstaled windows yet the problem persists.
    I will be really thankful if someone can get me suggettions or solution on these.

      It seems that someone / something on your network has changed the IP address. Try setting the IP address on your PC to a completely different address and see if the problem goes away. If you still get the problem, you then know it is the configuration of the PC. If it goes away, you know for certain that someone / something has changed the IP address.

      You didn’t say how many computers ore on your lan, so I don’t know how big a job it would be to check every pc’s ip. So here is a web site for downloading a program that will do it for you. Go to http://languard.com and then downloads and get Network Scanner.
      It should show you what computers are causing the conflict and you can investigate how from there.

      Using a WINPROXY?, then u could have assigned the same IP address to the two computers.. Every PC should have uniqe IP address. for e.g u have assigned IP at ur server 192.168.22.0, then other computer with W98 u must have 192.168.22.1, 192.168.22.2and so on.
