hi there,
what do you want to do ?
wiht any calculator you can convert decimal numbers to binary ones.
although there is some specefic tiny software to calculate Ip and subnet mask,
you can find an example of it of cisco CD's
.

Just use the same tools you would use to convert any "decimal" number to binary, for each "octet", then drop all of the ".".

Example:

192.168.14.3

192 == 1100 0000
168 == 1010 1000
14 == 0000 1110
3 == 0000 0011

so 192.168.14.3 ==
11000000101010000000111000000011

For lots of good informsation on this see:

Note: an IP address in Binary is 32 bits, and the "." is not a relevant character in Binary. So to be quite correct about it all, drop the "." characters when you've converted the so-called octets.

The decimal versions which we (people) use is just a representation of the underlying Binary structure.

An ip address is 32 bits 8X4
255.255.255.255 = 11111111.11111111.11111111.11111111
255.255.0.0 =
11111111.11111111.00000000.00000000
255 = 11111111

128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 = 255

128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
0 1 1 0 1 1 11
64+32+8+4+2+1= 111 you need to add the bits that are turned on..

Easy, all the 4 digits of an IP address can be broken down to 32 (8 each).
Eg. The IP Address 192.168.14.3 can be written as...
192 == 1100 0000
168 == 1010 1000
14 == 0000 1110
3 == 0000 0011

192.168.14.3 ==
11000000.10101000.00001110.00000011
