By oaracena ·
I'm trying to do an ipconfig command on my windows 2000 machine, and what I get is the following error message (ipconfig is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file ) Can anybody please give me any tip on fixing this problem. Thank you!

do a search

ipconfig.exe should be in c:\windows\system32 (or c:\winnt\system32

You should be able to run it from start/run, it'll pop up a command window, and then disappear so opening the cmd window first is a lot handier

The ipconfig program is missing?

by kevg In reply to IP Config Issues...

The problem here is,
"what I get is the following error message (ipconfig is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file )".
So as far as I can see there is no IPCONFIG.EXE to run. Looks like its being deleted somehow.
First, do a search to find out if you have it anywhere else. If found move/copy it to \%root%\system32. That should solve your problem.
If not then you would have to manually reinstall it from either your backups or the install cd.

you by mistake modified the PATH variable. Goto
evn variables under advanced and insert c:\winnt\system32;

cheers!
