ipconfig

is there a way i can mangage remotely my workstations..where i can ipconfig and /release instantly from my pc instead of having to go to the machine? when i set somebody up for special access to the internet i would like to be able to give them thenew ip from my pc and then change it back when they have done what they need to do...

Not sure exactly what your intent is but on our network, we use a router (manageable via your browser) thru which you can grant or deny access to the internet to specific PCs.

I manage ours through network registrars..but i need to know if there is a way you can release and renew an ip # on am machine from the server without waiting for it to renew itself, and not having to go the pc...thanks

have you tried remote control software like VNC or dameware nt tools.


VNC is free, dameware is not.
You can get a eval copy from http://www.dameware.com/download/default.asp#dntu

With Dameware you can remote control the pc or get a remote command prompt

Another suggestion is to run PSEXEC (from www.sysinternals.com part of their PSTools set). PSEXEC can open a remote command prompt, so you could then issue IPCONFIG, and it would occur on the remote machine.
