'ipconfig' is not recognized...

By nathan ·
Unable to use IPCONFIG or PING commands in CMD.EXE, Error message:

'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

PC running WINXP can no longer talk across workgroup, but can still access broadband connection (which is shared out. Other PC's on network can see or shared internet connection either. Can run commands from c:\windows\system32 but can not access network still.

HAVE TRIED...
-Checked PATH is set to c:\windows\system32
-Used .\TCPIP /UNREG (this allowed me to use IPCONFIG, but still could not talk to other machines)

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE TCP/IP COMPLETELY FROM WINXP?

Reinstalling (or uninstall) of TCP/IP in Windows XP is not possible. TCP/IP is part of Windows XP core.

You can take a look at this Microsoft article for reference:

"How to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP (Q299357)"

If that doesn?t help you can try and reinstall IE. That helped in some cases of similar TCP/IP problems in Windows XP.

Mike,
I have already tried Technet and the suggestions offered by Microsoft, but was unable to resolve problem. I have found if I just run the Network Connection Wizard each time I want to share out my connection it works.
Thanks,
Nathan
