IPP in windows2000

By shyamalg ·
I installed a Lexmark T630 printer successfully on a windows 2000 server machine followed by sharing . On a windows 2000 prof. just wanted to connect to the shared printers (giving http://printer_ip_address/shared printer name) in the browser URL field but it ended up showing me error message "driver installation failure" .
Can please anyone tell me why this error is shown and where i erred?

thanks
shyamal.

IPP in windows2000

I think you would need to address the printer as http://printer-ip-address and be sure the printer has a default gateway if it is on another subnetwork. The printer really doesn't understand that it is being shared.

And by giving the printer its own IP address, W2K computers can print directly to it, rather than going through an additional print server.
