what does ipv6 look like, in the real world?

I know ipv4 is 100.123.158.364

Believe it or not, it will look alot like a MAC address. By that I mean it will be a colon deliminated set of Hexedecimal numbers. Much Like this>

FEDC:BA98:7654:3210:FEDC:BA98:7654:3210

However, to maintain current compatibility with ipv4 the example you give would be represented by ::100.123.158.364
