IRQ Conflict

By techadmin ·
I have windows 98 se os and Netware 3.12 server.
Recently I removed all part of my workstation (windows 98 se) and again attached properly. Since then the NE2000 compatible network adapter is conflicting with another IRQ.
It gives the following atNE2000 compatible network adapter properties tab :
Configuration Type - Basic Configuration 0
Inturrupt (IRQ)- *3
I/O Add Range *200-21F
I tried to change the IRQ value but it does not work.
I was unable to login into network.
Please give necessary the Protocols and adapters to be installed for this.
thanks

wat is the problem and how to solve

IRQ Conflict

This problem is very typical with compaq machines (although I experienced the exact same thing with my xp box at home which is not a compaq machine), try moving the nic card to a new pci slot, that will give it a brand new irq setting (it is usuallythe video card that is conflicting, trying to share irq 9). That nic card should not be using irq 3, irq 3 is reservered for your com ports. But moving the nic card will automatically give it a new irq setting (note: REMEMBER THIS IF YOU EVER UPGRADE TO XP. EVEN IF YOU UNINSTALL COMPLETELY XP HANGS ONTO THESE SETTINGS)

If your network card is an old ISA card, many of them have an utility (which run in command prompt) for diagnostic and set the resources.
