Consider this network scenario and comment on whether it is secure… I apologize in advance for any ignorant questions…
An external SMPT server is sitting out on the Internet. The only thing separating it from the internal network is a pix firewall. There is no DMZ (although the network person thinks that this IS a DMZ). Is this a common situation? Is it possible to have a DMZ with only one firewall? It seems to me that a better solution would be to have the SMPT server between two firewalls. I am not a WAN guru so I would appreciate any advice on this scenario.
