Is it advisable to change to IT jobs with different specialization?

I started my IT career as a Level 1 IT Support for around 2 years. I mostly worked using SQL and Unix in this job. Then, I joined another job as a PEGA Developer and have been working for around 1.5 years. I use the PEGA software for this current job. I am thinking of switching to another IT job which is based on another specialization (UiPath, Network Engineering etc.).

But is it advisable if I keep changing different IT role jobs every 2 – 3 years (Eg. from IT Support to PEGA Developer to Network Engineer)?

Or is it expected for a person working in the IT Industry to stick to a specific IT role for a long period of time? (Example: Working as a Java programmer for 10 – 15 years).

I’d say it’s more satisfying (and better earning) to grow from junior to expert in a specialisation you like than to switch to another junior position every few years.

But that doesn’t mean that as a developer you have to stick to the same programming language and the same tools until you retire in 45 years.

It depends on your personal preferences. Some people like to change their specialization and try themselves n something new while others prefer to stay at one place.
