Is it possible?

By husp1 ·
I just received a newer PC as a gift for christmas that came with XP home but I don't like the OS. is it possible to create a new disc of my OEM version of ME and use that? if so witch files should I copy? This ME version is the most stable version that I have seen. (hard to belive ME is stable) I contacted the vendor but they said that since I purchased the system second hand that I am not eligible for assistance. (stingy buggers) I haven't tried to install from the disc since It is an E-machine OS and am not sure if it is machine spacific.

Legally, no.

Would I do it? No. ME is not as stable nor robust as XP.

It is very likely that your ME CD will not have the correct HAL or drivers for your new system. I'd recommend taking some time and learn XP.

If you are determined to put ME on it, I would advise purchasing a CD and the license on Ebay and then installing. You may still run into issues with the HAL and drivers.

Best of luck with your decision.
