    Hi
I got a very suspicious from an email address starting with xxxxxxxxx followed by a bunch of letter and numbers. It was a fake job offer saying to contact them on WhatsApp. I accidentally opened the message, but didn’t click on any links or attachments. Is it possible for it to infect my phone with malware?

Can you clarify what you mean with “text”?

Generally, “text message” or “text” is used for sms-messages, while “message” in combination with “link” and “attachment” points to an email.

Could be an MMS if it includes an internet link along with text message. If there is no link, I don’t think a phone could possibly get malware or a virus. SMS does not have data by itself, MMS requires an internet connection and potentially could deliver one.

The likelihood of you receiving a virus from opening a text is low. It usually takes clicking on an infected link or file to trigger a virus to install onto a device.
