Is it possible to launch msconfig right at bootup?

I did a foolish thing…

my safe mode asked for user name and password but when i put in my windows username and password it just refused to log me in.

i had wanted to do a virus check in safe mode but that could not happen due to above situation.

while trying to find out a solution to above problem i hit upon a suggestion that i could run ‘msconfig’ and then go to ‘boot.ini’ and tick ‘safe-boot’. for some stupid reason i did all that and got back to reboot and got landed back into a safe mode screen which would not log me in (refer to first para). and none of the other options offered by win xp would work either (like starting in normal mode etc. etc.).

therefore, i am stuck up!

and so, is there any way i can get into msconfig while boot-up itself and before reaching that frustrating locked-in ‘safe’ mode? your help would be much appreciated! thanks in advance.
