In the latter half of the 1980s, my classroom was equipped with a Netware server and about 12 terminals. In those days, I had to make do with 16 MB RAM, hence as soon as the network had a high load the server died.
Otherwise, the set-up in place was perfect. Yes, Novell has come a long way and with its version 7, today it permits itself to say, ?Linux is an immature operating system?. Does the Linux world believe this? I am no Linux expert, but I can put together a few of its flavours and get all vital network services up and running. Linux might not have Novell?s mature life span but I would say it is robust and it is my preferred desktop for network administration for UNIX back-end environments.
Can Novell use Linux to regain market share? Will Linux only be seen integrated into other OSes rather than ultimately win the OS platform race?
