    Is my mac being spied on?

    I don’t know anything about computers, I suspect my MacBook might be being spied on. I looked it up online and a recurring tip is to check the ‘logon events,’ I went to the Console and typed ‘wake’ as the articles I read said and there are loads lines that happened well after I went to bed and closed my mac. (I closed the screen at 23h35 and used it again in the morning at 9h03). Here’s what it says:

    20/05/21 23:35:26,000 kernel[0]: AppleCamIn::systemWakeCall – messageType = 0xE0000340

    21/05/21 02:35:25,000 kernel[0]: Wake reason: EC.SleepTimer (SleepTimer)

    21/05/21 09:03:12,000 kernel[0]: AppleCamIn::systemWakeCall – messageType = 0xE0000340

    Is it just a normal thing it does or should I be worried?

      It says it’s woken up by a sleep timer, not by some external event. Check your settings to see why.

      Timers such as these are fairly normal.

      Here’s an example from years ago where they share it happens every hour and they tell why.

      To go along with what has already been said,

      the core system of the MacOS runs tests, usually at night, called CRON jobs.
      The job checks on the size of log files and tidy’s them up, for want of a better term.
      This could be part of what you are seeing.

      Although this seems normal scan your system for potential malwares for that malwarebytes is the best. Also, add an antivirus and a VPN to stay safe and secure.
