I am strongly considering entering a graduate program in Software Engineering.
I received a BS in Computer Engineering nearly 4 years ago and have since been a Systems Analyst at a Fortune 500 company (traditional manufacturing). The company requires justification of any classes they reimburse, and do not value internal software development. Just about everything they use is 3rd party.
I ultimately want to leave my current company to join a more Hi-Tech industry and perform more of a design and engineering position with growth into management. It seems like my best lead into such a position would be to go back to school (Which I would like to do anyway.). The problem is that there aren’t any recognized universities near me.
Is it better to go to a no name traditional school for a masters in CIS that focuses on Software Engineering (www.gvsu.edu), or take online or satallite classes through something like National Technical University (www.ntu.edu)?
I haven’t seen anyreviews of NTU. They provide access to content providers all over the country — many of which are very well respected universities. Would a degree from NTU be worthwhile? Would it be as respected as a traditional masters?
