Is Software Testing offers Better Career

I have completed my PGDCA from P.U. Chandigarh thereafter MCA through lateral entry in Distance education. I have worked as Programmer with Panjab University for 1 year. I want to go in Industry line and in that in Software Testing. I am of 27 years. Will it be a better option for me. How can I start. Will my experience pay me?? Please help me..

Dear Amrik,
Its never too late to start yo career in Testing. As you’ve not mentioned your previous domain of experience, i would ask you whether you are familiar with somoe of the scripting languages like Perl or shell programming.
Do you have exposure to testing tools like the win runner, load runner, test director,etc ? Because thats the kind exposure that the employers would prefer. Make your self familar with the basics of the kinds of testing like the Black Box and White Box testing that could fetch you some points even if you dont have exposure to the testing tools.
But to tell you, testing is not one such line of career everyone prefers. Coz its so vague and needs lotta preparation and patience. Test cases may run for hours together and you sould be able to deal with the dryness. Now-a-days programmers become test pros coz they get a good sum of pay.
But never its a bad path for those are are desired and willing to take it.
In case your experience doesnt match what i’ve mentioned above u can even fake it up in your resume and make sure that you go and sit dumb there without able to make tech conversations in TESTING.

My advice to you is to get along to a conference or peer sharing event and start to meet some testing professionals. They will be able to help you and steer you in the right direction.
