Hi, recently the emails from techrepublic are with following content:

merda de | Thursday, April 28, 2011

The string "merda de" means in portuguese "**** OF". I am from Brazil and this is very strange to me.

Somebody altered the techrepublic email template?

Yes, some form of merda means scheisse in many languages.

The bit before the pipe | is supposed to be your name as entered in the the original signup form. So yes, weird. I originally wondered if they got the day wrong and mis-spelled Mercredi (French).

is pulling from the first/last name you had registered with. To change that, you will need to edit your profile - http://www.techrepublic.com/members/edit
