You can use USB hubs to give your computer more USB slots so I was wondering is there a limit to this kind of slot expansion.

Adding more slots increases the power demands of the computer and will require a bigger power supply that some motherboards might not support. There is no simple answer.

A powered USB hub, or an additional card on your motherboard, might easily solve the power problem.

Depending on your processor and motherboard along with your power supply you could expand a lot or a little, it is different for every motherboard.
