I hope that title made sense. What I wish I had was a web site that had a complete replication of the web based interface for various network devices, especially routers. I’ve found something kinda like that over here: http://www.linksysinfo.co.uk/routerworld/
There you can look through some of the screens for routers and actually interact with it. However, it’s a bit limited. It would be nice to have a drop-down list to select interfaces for different SOHO routers and maybe even some of the bigger appliances.
I’m trying to work on someone’s network issues over the phone because we’re separated by over 1,000 miles. One of the issues is their router/VPN server. It needs some tweaking but I’m not familiar with the web interface. I’m reading through the manual for it but would be so much happier if I could have an exact replica of the interface to click through as I talk someone through some administrative tasks over the phone. Yes, I can have them enable remote administration for a few hours, but there may be some cases where that might not be possible. And besides, sometimes you need to poke through the interface to find how to enable WAN administration.
