Out the blue, or more precisely the ether, I’ve just noticed this ‘peermail’ …

Subject: Dell overheating?
Message:
I have an older Dell insperion 6400 that runs for about an hour and then shuts down. I was thinking overheating but I can restart it right away and it will only run for a few minutes and then start the crazy actions before shut down. If I let it sit for several hours it will again run for about an hour and then shut down. During shut down the screen jumps and flashes and acts like I have pressed a key too many times and beeps. If I let it do this long enough (20 min)it will shut down. Generally I shut it down. I can not hear any fan running or feel any air moving. I have removed the screen and the Keyboard to get to the Fan and Heat sink to no avail. Am I on the right track with heat or could this be a fault of another kind. I have done a full restore on it with the same outcome. Any ideas?
Mmm… Well… ideas, eh?
When was the last time you fried an egg??
If you cut off all the heat for a couple of minutes, do you notice that the egg returns to making the sound of an “egg frying” A LOT QUICKER THAN when you remove all heat for a couple of hours???!!!
I did try to track ‘vmorin’ down on TR but since there’s 2 of them, and I never reply to unknown personal one-off emails anyway – I elected to post this question here for proper Open Discussion.
The Casino email address made me a bit twitchy too. 😉
