isass.exe – system error in 2000 Server

I am getting the following error to my ‘Security Accounts Manager: intialization failed because of the following error – Directory Service cannot start. Error status: 0xc00002e1.

I have not changed configuration to my security accounts other than giving them permissions.
Has anyone encountered this error before?
