ISP Change Problem

By nikita2525 ·
I recently changed ISP's. The new one uses a different browser & mail program. I chose to stay with IE AND OE. I have made those changes myself, however, there is one nagging problem I can't fix. I need a tech head on this one. At the very top of my monitor where it says: OE or IE, "provided by", it retains the old ISP name. It doesn't affect any programs, it's just a pest to me. Shouldn't there be a command I can type in the run field, and the appropriate program to choose when asked, to make the change? Do I have to uninstall both programs & reinstall them? I'm at a standstill. Would appreciate some insightful input on this,...pretty please? :-)

Remembering that incorrect changes made in your registry can cause catastrophic problems, here is an easy fix. Run regedit and search for the name displayed at the top of IE and OE. When you find it, change it to what ever name you want. Keep in mind there will be more than one entry, and you need to change them all. I did this, to put my company name there instead of the isp name that came originally.

If the probem presists reinstallation of your OS again wil slove you problem. Becuse some registry problems cause these kind of problems especialy in 95/98.

Your old ISP might have assambled the programs against other ISP's (Maybe)

I can onlyreccomend to uninstall your OS and install again. Don't forget to delete all of the files in your OS directory and all programs that belong to your old ISP.

If your don't want to do it check your DNS entries and static IP possibilities.
