ISP connection problem

By katn ·
I have Workstation 4.0 with 1 USR modem. There are two separate ISP accounts. The one works fine. The other connects but doesn't go anywhere. This ISP is saying that the computer is using multilink. I have checked and don't see any settings for it. Could I be missing something?

ISP connection problem

by avachon In reply to ISP connection problem

Hi, to check to see if multilink is enabled, open the network applet from control panel. Under services, click ras and properties. When the ras screen comes up and you see your modem(s) and the ports. Click on the first modem and then click on network which will bring up the screen "network configuration." At the bottom of the screen you'll see a box you can check to enable multilink. If there is a check in the box, clear it. Do the same steps for the second modem. If it turns out that multilink is not enabled, you can then confidently press you ISP for better troubleshooting. Hope this helps you.

Only one modem and I had checked to see if multilink was enabled. ISP didn't know what they were talking about. They don't support workstation.

The 'multilink' answer doesn't make sense. Check to see that your IP configurations for each ISP dial-up entries are correct for each ISP, such as the DNS entries, no login, protocols,...etc.
